TEXAS 2 CALIFORNIA

Well made it to Freeport and dropped my load on Wednesday and picked up a hazmat load on Thursday. On I10 near Van Horn, TX I got stopped by a DoPS Officer, who chose to site me for placarding violations. He had stopped another driver and ticketed him the day before for the same items. They loaded where I did. Needless to say, I sent the citations to the COMPANY. Prior to that I stopped at a great BBQ spot on I10 exit 456. called COOPERS.

My next stretch between TEXAS and Califirnia are in the FOTOS. most from Arizona, the wind generators from CAlifornia. The snow capped mountains are outside of Palm DESERT area.

I got to our FONTANA OC yesterday in time to get a 34 hour restart. I'll deliver this load on Monday morning. This gives me an opportunity to catchup on showers, laundry shopping etc.

Beer Here

Well today i took my first alone load in a while. I picked up in Hamlin, TX, leaving Dallas about 10 am. after checking in, I was offered a BEER, and sadly enough, had to refuse. After loading 43,000+ pounds of COTTON, I returned to DALLAS for the night. In the morning, I'll head for FREEPORT, TX to deliver the load. Then to where, who knows???

Lost a Student

Well I had Paul as a student for 4 days. He wasn't feeling his best when we hooked up together, and his cough seemed to get worse. On Monday he went to a doctor in Dallas, who put him out of service. Paul was doing quite well, driving and backing. On Sunday, we bobtailed 175 miles, deadheaded 40 miles, to pickup a load of paper, and deliver it to Fort Worth.

Enroute we took SR9 in arkansas, a great road to teach shifting/gear RPM/Speed issues. We even had the opportunity to cross a limited weight bridge. (????)/(33.5TON). Here are some fotos of the road and scenery.

Now I'm waiting on a load. hopefully a good one. I could use some of this time to catch up on some SNI/Personal details. My last student, ROB called me to give me deails of picking up his first truck at Gary and his load to Green Bay. You can read his BLOG at http://www.truckingfunks.blogspot.com/

Here are a few fotos taken on I44 West of St Louis at the Meramac RIver. Note the BIG TRUCK half under water..OOPS...This second foto is a pickup truck . Well my newest student Paul has been doing quite well. He's an excellent backer. Seems to enjoy pullups. He's been with me since last Thursday, started out on a HAZMAT load with a flat tire on the trailer. We followed that with a relay from GARY to Oklahoma ending it running over our 14hours because the consignee refused to allow us to park on their property for our ten. Needless to say, if they had unloaded us on time, we would have been OK. Topping it off, they also refused part of our load as excess, NOT THEIRS. We needed to take the pallet of goods to a drop area in TULSA. This third load is somewat better. great loading good travel and weater and hopefully tomorrow an easy unload at Fort Worth. Todays drive was interesting for Paul, and after a deep breathe, he recovered well from a drive along State Route 9 in Arkansas. UP, Downs, LEFTS and RIGHTS, like a snake. Even to crossing a 33.5 ton limited bridge with 77, 640#. How's that for experiences. He's sitting in front of me now, and I'm afraid to ask what he really thinks of today's activities.

These other fotos are shots along state route 9

Here at Dallas, I managed to run into a few friends, both drivers and mechanics.

Last day with RF

Well it's been a great two weeks. I'll release Robert from my phase of his training in the A.M. Afterwards I'll finish this last load together, and continue on home for a few days. Rob will head up to Green Bay for is Skills, Qualifications Testing. I have no doubts that he'll do well, If only so he doesn't have to spend two more weeks with my music and jokes. Rob is the good looking one on the right!! By the way...Rob's challenge to overwork him was met. on at least two occasions, early in the day, he paracticed the "BOBBLEHEAD" techiques for checking his mirrors and guages. Naturally his eyes were closed while I was driving. This ones for you ROB...ROAD GUARDS OUT!!!

ONe more load

Well, this is Rob's and my last load together. I'm not sure how much more I can take with him. It worries me that after him, its all uphill. in these two weeks, we will have entered and exited 18 of these new knitted states. yes they each allowed us in and back out. Tommorrow, Sunday, We hope to arrive at GARY, IN OC, where I will leave Rob on Monday. I'll finish this last load myself, and then go home for 2 or 3 days. Hopefully I'll get another student when I come back on the road.
Rob and I have had a few laughs, I'm not sure what he thinks of my choice in music, but he seems to like the palces I chose as FOOD stops. Rob makes good sandwiches on the road, only missing the SKIRT.
It's going to be hard for another student to meet his standards. SEE HIS BLOGS at www.truckingfunks.blogspot.com

Now we are on load to Connecticut. We have a delema that needs to be dealt with in order to get Rob to Green Bay on time for his SQT.

We stopped at a truckstop for the evening and found a internet hot spot.

The food here is also good, I had the pot rost dinner. We are at Exit 48 on I77 at the Grand Central Station Truck Stop.

My 1ST Trucker's Blog

Well now we begin as we come to the close of my first TE STUDENT relationship. here are a few fotos from our travels together so far. His name is Robert and he's really been making an effort to please me , making it easy for me to help him develope into this new carreer he's chosen for himself. He just got me started in this "BLOGGING" thing. I guess I'll be able to follow his progress by reading his blog on a regular basis. His site is http://www.truckingfunks.blogspot.com/ and he updates it almost daily.

We've been together on the road just over a week now, and if you wish to catch up you can read our events on his site. I suppose I could cut and paste his ramblings, but that would be palagerism.
